Archive and Museum Collection Management
These internships are for students who are thinking about careers in a collection or in an archive. Businesses, government institutions, museums, and more are all great places for archivists to work. If you are more interested in working with objects and exhibits, consider a career in collections. UCF’s Department of History is currently posting positions for the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens, the Florida Historical Society, the GLBT History Museum of Central Florda, the Public History Center, the Orange County Regional History Center, and UCF Libraries Special Collections.
Digital Research and Preservation
Looking for an entry into an innovative and cutting-edge career that brings history to the public? These interns offer students the chance to work with the digital preservation of objects and documents. Organizations offering this internship include I-O Trak, the Lou Frey Institute, RICHES™ of Central Florida, the Museum of Seminole County History, Orlando Remembered, and the Public History Center.
Want a career working behind-the-scenes at a museum? This might just be the internship for you! Museum administrators perform a variety of functions, including fundraising, development, assisting with projects, and providing day-to-day support. Currently, organizations offering opportunities in this field include the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens, DeBary Hall Historic Site, and the Florida Historical Society.
If you have a passion for hearing and collecting the stories of others, consider an internship in oral history. Interns in this field work with community organizations and museums to gather local memories. Organizations regularly opportunities include Creative Sanford, the Goldsboro Historical Museum, the Museum of Seminole County History, and the Veteran’s History Project.
